The Best White Pizza Recipes
White pizza recipes contain a dairy pizza sauce, such as mayonnaise, sour cream, or cream cheese. This Neapolitan pizza recipe has a gourmet base, which includes truffle oil, a delicious mayonnaise sauce, and a cheesy topping with basil, tomato, and mozzarella to complete the Neapolitan flavor. The mushrooms add color and flavor.
This is one of several white pizza recipes in which the crust is prepared in a bread machine but you can combine the ingredients by hand if you do not have such a machine. This Neapolitan pizza is great served warm with a green salad and it is quite big so will probably feed ten people.
Gourmet Neapolitan Pizza
For the Crust:
3/4 cup warm water
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups bread flour
2 teaspoons instant active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1/4 teaspoon white truffle oil
For the Topping:
1 thinly sliced onion
5 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 lb sliced mozzarella
½ cup grated parmesan
1 tablespoon basil, chopped
6 cloves garlic, finely chopped
½ cup mushrooms, sliced
1 tomato, finely sliced
Salt and black pepper to taste
Olive oil for brushing
Preheat a pizza tile or stone to 450 degrees F.
Place all the crust ingredients in a bread machine and process. Remove the dough and knead several times on a lightly oiled surface. Form the dough into an oval, cover with a towel and rest 10 minutes.
Stretch the dough into a 14-inch round and brush it with olive oil.
Bake for 15 minutes or until the top is bubbly and the base is golden brown.
Spread the mayonnaise over the top of the dough and arrange the sliced onion over the top, sprinkle the garlic, basil, salt, and pepper over the top and sprinkle Parmesan over.
Layer the mozzarella on top and arrange the mushrooms and tomato slices.
Place on the baking tile or pizza stone and bake for 15 minutes or until the top is bubbly.
