Delicious Diabetic Pizza Sauce Recipe

Caraway seeds are the secret ingredient for the taste of this great diabetic pizza sauce recipe. It tastes delicious, is extremely simple to make, and freezes well for later use. Double the recipe to make enough for all your pizzas for a while – half a cup to one cup will cover two large pizzas, depending on how much sauce you prefer on your pizzas.

This sauce also make a great dipping sauce for breadsticks and garlic bread, and goes particularly well with strong flavors, such as pork pizza toppings. Combine with Italian sausage for a fantastic pizza treat! Remember to cool the sauce slightly before using it on the pizza. Piping hot sauce tastes great, but it can melt your cheese before you get the pizza in the oven, resulting in a messy problem.

A Diabetic Pizza Sauce Recipe That Still Tastes Great

Ingredients –

1 eight ounce can tomato sauce/puree
1 eight ounce can tomato paste
¼ teaspoon thyme, ground or crushed
¼ teaspoon oregano, ground or crushed
¼ teaspoon rosemary, ground or crushed
½ teaspoon caraway seed, whole
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 bay leaf, broken up small

Preparation:

In a saucepan, combine all ingredients.

Bring to a boil, then simmer ten to fifteen minutes, stirring periodically, or until sauce is the desired consistency.

Cool before using and bring to room temperature before freezing for storage.

(Makes 2 cups, or tops 4 to 8 pizzas)
