Homemade Mushroom Pizza
4 cups of flour
1 ⅔ cups of warm water
1 ½ tablespoons of yeast
1 ⅓tablespoon of olive oil
2 12 oz. cans of tomato sauce, unseasoned
12 medium mushrooms
1 slice of pineapple, canned
1 small onion
1 pound of Gouda cheese
To begin, mix the yeast in with the warm water in a small mixing bowl. Sift the flour into a large bowl, and add the yeast and water mix. Mix the flour, oil, and yeast with your hands, and roll into a large ball. Knead for 15 minutes, and set in a large bowl to rise to double its mass.
As the dough is rising for 2 hours, empty the cans of tomato sauce into a saucepan and place it on the stove to heat. Leave the tomato sauce on low heat to boil for 30 minutes to remove any acidity from the sauce.
Once the dough has risen, roll it out into the pizza crust shapes and place the two crusts in the oven to cook. Cook until crunchy, and remove from the oven.
Grate the cheese, slice the mushrooms and pineapples, and dice the onions.
Pour a thin layer of tomato sauce over the crusts, add the sprinkled cheese, mushrooms, pineapple, and onions. Add a pinch of salt for good measure, and place the pizzas in the oven to cook for 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
