Rich and Creamy White Garlic Pizza Sauce

Rich and Creamy White Garlic Pizza Sauce

Sometimes we get tired of the same old thing, and tomato pizza, as good as it can be, can also get old. If you are craving pizza, but want something a little different, this white garlic pizza sauce is the one for you. It is great with sausage, chicken, artichoke hearts, and a number of other toppings. It also does double duty to make a nice Alfredo-type sauce for pasta.

Combine it with a few tablespoons of marinara sauce to create a “rosa” sauce for pizza or pasta, too. This is truly an easy, versatile sauce that’s not just the same old thing. Try it – you will be sure to include it in your regular recipe rotation. It is mellow and delicious, without being bland, and the garlic adds a little zing.

Decadent White Garlic Pizza Sauce

Ingredients –

2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
¼ tablespoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ cup parmesan or havarti cheese, shredded

Preparation:

In a medium saucepan over low heat, heat butter and stir in flour to form a roux.

Allow flour to brown slightly, but do not permit it to burn.

Once the roux has been created, whisk milk in slowly and gradually, avoiding lumps.

Cook the sauce thus formed until desired thickness is reached, and then stir in cheese and spices slowly.

Allow cheese to melt and mixture to become smooth and creamy.

Allow to cool slightly, then top pizza.

(Tops 1 to 2 pizzas.)
