Easy Basic Pizza Sauce

Ingredients –

35 ounces whole canned tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
2 tablespoons canned tomato paste
salt and pepper to taste

In a two quart saucepan (non-aluminum), crush tomatoes coarsely with a fork or the back of a spoon.

Add tomato paste and all seasonings and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Stir to make sure seasonings combine well.

After the sauce begins to bubble, reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for fifteen minutes to an hour, stirring periodically.

Allow to cool slightly and top pizza.

Freeze remaining sauce.

(Makes 1 quart, or enough to top 4 to 8 pizzas)
