Fruity Pineapple and Sausage Pizza

Fruity Pineapple and Sausage Pizza

The meatiness of the sausage and the fruitiness of the pineapple complement one another wonderfully in this sausage pizza recipe. A lot of people are amazed when they first experience pineapple on pizza because it goes so beautifully with ham, sausage or any other meats and it soon becomes a firm favorite.

The red pepper goes nicely with the sausage and gives this Hawaii sausage pizza a bit of bite. If you like sweet toppings on your pizza recipes, try this one because the fresh pineapple is simply wonderful as a topping alongside the meat. For a slightly different flavor, you can use turkey sausage instead of regular sausage. It is just as nice.

Pepperoni Pizza with Mushrooms and Peppers

Ingredients –

12 oz prepared pizza dough
Cornmeal for dusting
1 cup diced fresh pineapple
¾ cup Italian sausage
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella
½ teaspoon red pepper

Preparation:

Cook the sausage in a skillet, stirring to crumble.

Pat it dry with paper towels.

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F with a pizza stone on the lowest rack.

Sprinkle the cornmeal on a pizza peel and roll the dough to a 12 inch circle. Transfer via the peel to the pizza stone and cook for 3 minutes or until the bottom starts to crisp.

If you do not have a pizza stone or a pizza peel (flat shovel to transfer pizza), you can simply use a baking tray.

Remove the crust from the oven and put it, uncooked side down, on to a chopping board.

Spread the sauce evenly over the pizza crust, leaving a ½ inch border around the outside edge.

Sprinkle on half the cheese, then the sausage and pineapple and then the rest of the cheese, oregano, and red pepper.

Slide the pizza back on to the stone and keep baking until the base is golden and the cheese has melted.

This should take 10 to 12 minutes.
