Getting Crunch with a Crispy Pizza Crust Recipe

Getting Crunch with a Crispy Pizza Crust Recipe

Some folks just love to have plenty of crunch to their pizza, and for those, nothing will do other than the crispy pizza crust recipe. You get a great snap with this type of pizza, and it works right in with a thin crust pizza. This type of pizza dough is more dependent on the way that you end up rolling it out, but there are a few tricks to getting it as crunchy and crispy as you like.

Thin crust pizza is a bit of an acquired taste, so you do run the risk of some of your guests not enjoying it as much. However, once you do get everyone hooked on this pizza crust, you are going to have a lot of fun with it. The other advantage to a crispy, thin crust pizza is that your pizza dough goes much farther than a standard thickness pizza.

The crispy pizza crust recipe is fairly easy to follow, and you only need to pay special attention when it comes to rolling out your crust. The challenge mainly lays in the fact that you have to roll this out thin. That runs a risk of tearing if you are not experienced with this type of pizza crust. It should only take you a few tries to make it happen, however.

Ingredients –

3 ½ cups flour
½ tsp sugar
½ tsp salt
1 ½ cups warm water
1 package active yeast
1 tbsp Italian seasoning or Oregano
Extra flour for sprinkling
Marinara sauce
Shredded cheese
Pizza toppings

Preparation:

Clean off a large area on your countertop so you have room to roll out your pizza crust. Make sure that the water is warm and pour it into a metal bowl. Sprinkle the entire package of yeast over the top of the water and leave it sit for up to 15 minutes. It is ready when you see bubbles forming beside the yeast. This process is called proofing the yeast.

Mix in the sugar and salt. Once both of these are thoroughly dissolved in the water, begin adding the flour. You may choose to use a mixer and dough hook for this process, but the dough is not so difficult that you cannot simply use your hands for it. Mix in the Italian seasoning as you work the dough.

Cover the bowl and wait for it to rise. Once it has risen, go ahead, and flour the counter. Spread the dough on the counter and cut it in half. Ball it up and wait for it to rise again. Store half of the dough elsewhere, unless you want to make two pizzas.

Roll out the other ball as thin as possible. If you end up getting tears, roll it up a little and start again. Once you have gotten it as thin as possible, put the sauce, cheese, and your toppings on it. Preheat an oven to 525 degrees and put the pizza in. Wait approximately 15 minutes and check on the pizza. It should be done by this time.
