Grilled Cheese Pizza with Tasty Sausage
Ingredients –
1 lb ready-to-bake pizza dough
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons dried oregano
6 oz shredded mozzarella
¼ cup freshly grated parmesan
½ lb ground sausage
¾ cup marinara sauce or pizza sauce
Preparation:
Preheat the grill under one side of the grill rack.
Sauté the ground sausage for 5 minutes in a skillet to brown it.
Drizzle the olive oil on to a rimmed baking sheet and turn the dough in the oil to coat it. Press and pull the dough on the baking sheet until it fits half the surface of the grill rack.
Toss the mozzarella and oregano and set aside.
Oil the cooler side of the grill rack, away from the fire, using a long-handled brush or tongs and a rag. Life the pizza dough by one edge and drape it over the cooler side of the grill rack. Cover the grill.
Check the dough after a couple of minutes. When you can see grill marks and it is stiff, flip it over with tongs. Spread the sauce over the dough, followed by the sausage, the parmesan, and then the mozzarella.
Cover the grill and cook for another 6 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
Remove the pizza with a baker’s peel or a pair of long-handled spatulas.
Cut it into squares or wedges and serve immediately.
